CHRYSLER GROUP LLC fleet orders Pneumatic trailer legs PTS50® and speaks of “retrofitting” ~1,295 trailers

Chrysler Group LLC has been testing the PTS50® (pneumatic trailer landing legs/gear) for months now.  Following several conversations between Prime Transport Solutions and Chrysler Group LLC’s mid to senior fleet management representatives, Prime Transport Solutions received an order for PTS50® this time with mention of “retrofitting over ~1,295 trailers”.

“I said it before and I will say it again and again, the PTS50® positively touches almost every part of costs attached to operating a trailer fleet from driver recruiting or retention to safety and maintenance, aerodynamics enablement, idling reduction time or efficiency and even space.  Cumulatively speaking, these reduced costs well exceed the benefits claimed by many other well-meaning competing technologies in the market which will offer only one or perhaps a couple cost saving measures.  I applaud Chrysler Group LLC and their authentic concerns for their drivers.  It is reflected in their actions exploring ways to truly improve work safety and environment as well as their maintenance bottom-line.  “This is a no brainer” was a comment we often heard coming right from the field during preliminary tests with Chrysler Group LLC and other ongoing pilots.  With this exciting milestone we will now see how serious the industry truly is about improving their bottom-line and helping drivers.” said Simon E. Bois EVP & GM Americas

“We feel privileged to be in possession of such a unique, disruptive and yet undeniably helpful technology in the industry.  Our challenge at this point in light of our forecast will be to ship product smoothly world-wide.  That is a nice and welcome change from having to focus all our energies in generating sales.  Testing and pilot programs are still available on a limited basis.  We will be sure to select the right partners in the process.  Visionary partners who will have the ability and willingness to understand what the PTS50® offers and, who support it already by using it.  It’s the least we can do.” said David White, CEO & Managing Director of Prime Transport Solutions

Chrysler Group LLC currently operates a private fleet of ~1,295 trailers with terminals in USA and Canada. Trailer drop requirements can reach up to ~20 per trailer per day using company drivers and some external common carriers.  Chrysler Group LLC, formed in 2009 to establish a global strategic alliance with Fiat S.p.A., produces Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Mopar, SRT and Fiat vehicles and products. With the resources, technology and worldwide distribution network required to compete on a global scale, the alliance builds on Chrysler Group‘s culture of innovation, first established by Walter P. Chrysler in 1925, and Fiat’s complementary technology that dates back to its founding in 1899.

Headquartered in Auburn Hills, Mich., Chrysler Group‘s product lineup features some of the world’s most recognizable vehicles, including the Chrysler 300 and Town & Country, Jeep Wrangler, all-new Dodge Dart, Ram 1500, Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 and Fiat 500. Fiat contributes world-class technology, platforms and powertrains for small- and medium-size cars, allowing Chrysler Group to offer an expanded product line including environmentally friendly vehicles.

Ireland based, Prime Transport Solutions Ltd. designs and manufactures patent-pending “Pneumatic Landing Leg/Gear” for heavy duty commercial transport trailers/containers/chassis/tankers worldwide.  The PTS50® line of products is designed with universal wing plates and can be installed on all major trailer brands.  The PTS50® offers “Prevention Through Design” and “Applied Ergonomics”.  Benefits of the PTS50® include weight reduction, reduced maintenance, elimination of risks of injury caused by operation of conventional product, idling reduction time, better productivity, better driver recruiting and retention as well as enablement of added aerodynamics.

PTS50® Benefits:

  1. HEALTH: Eliminate 100% risks of Work Comp Claims caused by operation of crank legs
  2. RECRUITING: The PTS50® in offers driver recruiting/retention.  For example, the PTS50® offered new possibilities to females and aging or even disabled drivers
  3. DRIVER: 0% need to raise or lower trailer to adjust heights in majority of cases
  4. MAINTENANCE: ~0% leg breakage due to trailer “drops” with legs insufficiently extended
  5. FUEL/DRIVER: Radical action speed enhancement (~5sec) causing more fuel efficiency
  6. MAINTENANCE: Up to 4 times stouter means less maintenance with more performance
  7. FUEL/PAYLOAD: ~40 Lbs. lighter  means more fuel efficiency or more paying load
  8. MAINTENANCE: works in minus -60C
